6/16 – Jeff’s “Strong Thunderstorm Potential” Father’s Day Weekend Forecast
Isolated strong thunderstorms are possible tonight bringing the potential for hail and strong winds. A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect until Midnight. The very persistent pattern will remain in place for much of the weekend. The storm track will shift slightly which will lead to rain chances for South Mississippi. Thunderstorms that get into our region will have more ingredients in the atmosphere to provide for the potential for strong wind gusts at times.
The rounds of rain chances will be coming through about every 12-18 hours. Other than some features moving around and the heat becoming less oppressive, the unsettled pattern will be in place into a lot of next week. The tropics are also beginning to heat up. That being said, there are no imminent threats to our area.
