Gulf Amusements, LLC announces location and return of FunTime USA!

Gulf Amusements, LLC is excited to announce the return of FunTime USA to Gulfport, Mississippi, summer of 2016. The new amusement park will be located at 1410 Beach Boulevard, in Gulfport, at the location of the old Chateau de la Mer apartment complex. The property has frontage on Highway 90 and the entrance to the property will be on the east side of Cowan Rd. on a direct corridor to interstate 10 (I-10 Exit 38).
From 1979 until August of 2005 FunTime USA was owned and operated by Beach Amusements LLC, under the direction and management of Ray O’Neal. The new park is being developed by owners Rafe O’Neal (Ray O’Neal’s nephew) and Romy Simpson with Mr. Ray O’Neal as lead project consultant.
FunTime USA will continue to provide clean, safe, affordable fun that made the original park so legendary combining new and exciting opportunities for music, cultural, and entertainment experiences. This attraction fills the pressing need for family entertainment and will stimulate the growth of our burgeoning tourism industry on the MS Gulf Coast.
The park will feature many of the attractions that made FunTime USA a Gulf Coast classic. Mr. Ray O’Neal will be overseeing the design and construction of the new world class Miniature Golf Course and most exciting will be the return of his creation – the classic Humpty Dumpty statue. Humpty Dumpty, which stood at the entrance of the original park, sat defiantly on his wall during and after Hurricane Katrina. Humpty made headline news after Katrina, becoming a symbol of hope for the proud and determined people of the Mississippi Gulf Coast and will occupy a prominent place of honor at the new park’s entrance.
In addition to the miniature golf course, there will be go-karts, bumper boats, family rides and children’s rides. The classic Allan Herschell Merry-Go-Round that operated at the original park was salvaged after Hurricane Katrina and will be restored and operating in the new park. Coastians and businesses have the opportunity to adopt horses on the restored Merry-Go- Round. There will also be a covered pavilion with a gourmet food truck court.
This project has been made possible through a partnership with Dennis Tynes, Managing Member of Sprout CDE as well as local developers and investors.
