Beloved Coastal photographer Alex North passed away
The Gulf Coast is in mourning following the death of beloved Coast Photographer Alex North on Saturday.
Alex, a colorblind artist, was known for his landscape photography that captured the true beauty of our Mississippi Gulf Coast.
Thousands of people affected by the loss have shared condolences on his social media page and beyond, expressing how greatly his work will be missed.
News 25 spoke with fellow Gulf Coast Photograph Tim Isbell this morning who recounted the many fond memories he’s shared with Alex over the last 20 years. “I would always run into Alex and he was a good barometer. I think we judged our work against each other, but it was a respectful competition which is the way it should be. I mean, he was quick with a compliment. That was our relationship. It was through photography, it was through mutual respect and laughing. I’ll always remember the laughter.”
Isbell says the next best thing North did was share his work with people, as it made residents proud of where they lived and gave them lasting memories.
Alex is survived by his wife Leslie, son Jacob, and daughter Sarah. In lieu of flowers, donations will be accepted by Morning Star Pregnancy Center at 2204 24th Avenue, Gulfport.
