9/8 – Rob Knight’s “Approaching Cold Front” Afternoon Forecast
[videoembed][/videoembed]As a tropical wave south moves towards the Florida Big Bend area, expect isolated t-storms through tonight with any heavy rain rather localized and not worthy of a large scale Flash Flood Watch. Activity will wind down this evening as the cold front to the north moving southward. The front should move through most or all of the area at some point late tonight into Thursday morning.
No significant cold air with this front, but what will be more noticeable, and welcome, will be the lower humidity levels. Dew points will be falling during the day on Thursday, and more widely felt Thursday night and Friday. Forecast dew points should be in the 50s and lower 60s for almost all areas Thursday night into Saturday morning. This should provide some relief from the heat for much of the area including SE Louisiana. Changes will occur Saturday night into Sunday as the return flow moves back into the area with a few afternoon t-storms beginning Sunday.
