9/1 – Tropical Update

The tropical wave near Hispaniola continues to move northwest. Over the next several days it will drift towards Florida, and isn’t expected to develop much as wind shear is keeping the tropical wave disorganized. Going into next week it will start to move into the Gulf of Mexico where it will encounter somewhat more favorable conditions to develop, and could start to get its act together. Because of this, it now has a medium chance of development anywhere between Monday-Wednesday. However, there is still plenty of uncertainty with the exact track and how much it will strengthen. How much rain South Mississippi sees next week will depend on the track of the wave. It appears right now the primary concern will be for heavy rain and higher tides. Continue to check back for updates and follow Your Weather Authority team as we head into next week. – Meteorologist Payton Malone
