8/30 – Rob Knight’s Labor Day Weekend Forecast
Surface high-pressure over Tennessee will shape the forecast going into the weekend as a weak tropical wave will traverse the central Gulf of Mexico Sat/Sun. From the SE Gulf…as the wave moves NW, moisture will gradually increase with precipitation chances returning to the Mississippi coast by late Saturday afternoon. Best chances for rain/thunderstorms will be late Saturday night through mid-afternoon Sunday as the low-pressure continues westward.
The current forecast track has Dorian over central Florida Tuesday night, and only moving less than 5 mph at that point, so no local impacts through the holiday weekend. Beyond Tuesday, still a lot of spread in potential tracks and scenarios.
No major changes to forecast at this time, but we suggest continuing to monitor trends through the holiday weekend until Dorian makes its northerly turn.
