7/4 – Payton’s Independence Day Forecast
Happy 4th of July! Today has been hot and humid. There have been very light isolated showers, but most of the area was dry and will remain that way tonight. Rain chances do pick up for tomorrow, but only 20%. The best chance for an isolated shower will be during the afternoon. Temperatures will still be in the 90s with it feeling around 100 degrees. As the ridge continues to break down and shift out of the area a trough will be close enough to the area where we will see rain chances pick up toward the weekend. The best chance will start Friday and go through the beginning of next week. These will be typical summertime thunderstorms that form during the afternoon. We could see a few rounds of overnight showers and thunderstorms going into the weekend, but there is still a lot of uncertainty with that. We continue to watch an area of low pressure in the Atlantic. It has a high chance of development over the next few days, but is not currently a threat to the U.S. We will keep an eye on this though.
