7/14 – The Chief’s “Dangerous Heat Returns” Friday Morning Forecast
An area of strong high pressure will extend eastward into our area and induce both warming and drier air. We will still have the chance of isolated thunderstorms due to the development of a weak sea-breeze boundary along the coast. The sea-breeze development will also limit daytime high temperatures from the low to mid-90s both today and tomorrow. A HEAT ADVISORY is in effect from 10AM- 8PM for today as dew-points in the mid to upper 70s support heat index values of 105 to 110 degrees from late morning through the afternoon hours.
Another heat advisory will be needed for the area on Saturday. As for Sunday, a complex of thunderstorms associated with an approaching cold front will move through the area bringing elevated rain chances. The complex should push into the offshore waters by late Sunday evening into Sunday night. Given the later start for thunderstorms, temperatures will once again easily climb into the low to mid 90s, and heat indices of 105-110 degrees are expected. As a result, another day of heat advisories is anticipated across the area.
Rain chances Monday will continue to be elevated with temperatures in the low 90s as heat advisories will be expected again. By Tuesday High pressure becomes dominate increasing temperatures and suppressing rain chances for the workweek.
