7/1 – Rob’s “July 1st” Monday Morning Forecast

Another warm, but pleasant start to the day. This afternoon will be hot, humid and there could be a popup up shower or t-storm, but most will be dry. Surface high pressure is building in the eastern gulf with an upper level ridge currently above extending up to the Florida panhandle and forecasted to strengthen through the week. This will be the main synoptic feature through the rest of this week. The ridge should help limit convection a bit, but will have chances each day this week for the typical summertime diurnally driven storms. Moisture will also be on the increase, particularly around Tuesday and Wednesday, which may bump up storm chances on those days before starting to slightly dry out. Temperatures will generally creep upward, with mid to upper 90s possible. If the high temps can reach those levels, heat indexes could reach the century mark, especially on Thursday and Friday.
