6/29 – Payton’s Thursday Evening Forecast

A very active day across South Mississippi as an area of low pressure sits overhead. Flash flooding will be the primary issue with these storms as they continue to move across the area. Some places have already picked up over four inches of rain today. The area of low pressure and frontal boundary overhead will begin to move out of the area on Friday, and rain chances will go down. Showers and thunderstorms are possible Friday with the best chance during the afternoon. For the weekend the weather starts to dry out and warm up. Rain chances will be slight and best during the afternoon. The Fourth of July is looking hot and muggy with a slight chance of a shower or thunderstorm during the afternoon. No tropical development is expected within the next five days.
