6/10 – Payton’s Sunday Night Forecast
This week will feel like a typical summertime pattern with a chance for showers and thunderstorms each and every afternoon. During the overnight period a few storms will be possible, especially along the immediate coast and into the sound. A lot of talk about the tropics as we head into this week. At this moment there is no tropical development expected over the next five days. As we go beyond that there is still a lot of uncertainties with the different models we use. A few want to develop and tropical system in the Gulf this weekend, but others show nothing at all. The bottom line is it is too early to know for sure what will happen. We will likely have to wait until something forms to get a good idea of where it will go. Regardless, if something develops or doesn’t develop, it appears enhanced moisture will be moving into the area as we go into the weekend and beginning of next week, which means we could see greater rain chances. For now we’ll continue to monitor the tropics closely, but there is not need to worry or panic. It is hurricane season, and that means you should always be prepared.
