34th annual Candidates Forum

Election Day is quickly approaching and many citizens on the Coast got to hear candidate’s positions on why they should be put into office.

The forum was hosted by the North Gulfport Civic Club in conjunction with the NAACP. It gave citizens on the Coast an opportunity to meet candidates running for office and get a sense of who they are and where they stand on certain issues.

Participants got a chance to write down questions to ask the candidates. Many of the questions asked focused on healthcare and education. North Gulfport Civic Club political action director Chris Fisher said, “This here is very informal. It is kind of a one-on-one situation. It’s not a stump speech. It’s not any sort of political ad, but what it is, it gives the candidates an opportunity to kind of interact and be known as people. It gives everybody an opportunity to interact with each other and kind of know where everybody stands and the positions they’re taking.”

There were candidates from both the general and special election in attendance at this year’s forum.
