3/18 – Jeff Vorick’s “Much Colder” Monday Evening Forecast
Skies have cleared out and elevated northerly winds have taken shape behind a cold front. Breezy conditions remain for some of the evening. This will be a late-season cold blast for our area given that the growing season is mostly underway. A Freeze Warning is in effect from 2 AM until 9 AM Tuesday morning for Pearl River, Stone, and George County. The main things will be to protect sensitive plants, bring in pets, and be sure neighbors are safe. Tuesday will feature cool afternoon high temperatures that will run about ten degrees below average. Lots of sunshine will be around through the day and winds will be much lighter.
Another cold night is on tap Tuesday night into Wednesday morning and due to light winds, frost could possibly become an issue. The saving grace will be if cloud cover works in overhead which can limit the development. A warming trend takes hold for the second half of the week as milder conditions return. Changes will be slow as a weak storm system will interrupt the warm-up. Rain chances of 30-40% can be expected Thursday into Friday. Heavy rainfall and widespread thunderstorms are likely off the table. Warmer conditions return this weekend.
