22nd annual Billfish Classic
Big boats, big money, and big fish, it’s time for the Mississippi Gulf Coast Billfish Classic once again.
The best fishing teams in the world are in Biloxi this week, gearing up to compete for the top spot. Any angler lucky enough to land an all new state record for Yellowfin Tuna will take home half a million dollars.
On Thursday at 11 a.m., the teams will parade out of the Mississippi Sound and into the Gulf to begin the tournament. Scales close at 6 p.m. on Saturday.
The public is invited to come out to the Point Cadet Harbor to watch weigh-ins free of charge. MS Gulf Coast Billfish Classic Director Bobby Carter said, “We’re looking to probably have one hundred plus boats for a purse of close to $2.5 million. These boats come from all over the Southeast. We have boats from Costa Rica, Hawaii, Dominican Republic, and the east coast of the US in Biloxi for this week. The weather is going to be perfect. There’s gonna be a lot of fish brought in. Come down, see the big boats, and enjoy yourselves. We look forward to seeing you guys.”
The Billfish Classic is rated among the top five sport fishing events in the world in total payouts.
