An investigation is underway after an officer-involved shooting happened Wednesday night in Pascagoula.
Officers say they responded to a call of a suicidal person in Pascagoula on the 4200 block of Newman Street.
When officers tried to gain control of the situation, the person began approaching law enforcement with a knife after several commands to put the weapon down. An officer then shot the person.
Acadian Ambulance was called to scene and when they got there, the suspect was pronounced dead.
This is an ongoing investigation that is being led by the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation with assistance from the Jackson County District Attorney’s Office.
