The flood insurance reform bill is on the table again.
Thursday, Senator Roger Wicker reintroduced three legislative measures aimed at improving the national flood insurance program, which covers thousands of homeowners in Mississippi.
The legislation introduced by Wicker would deliver relief for small business owners and nonprofits; empower local communities to take an active role in flood mapping; and provide continuing education for insurance agents to ensure accurate information about flood policies is being presented to consumers.
He first introduced NFIP reform in 2011.
These bills are supported by both the Mississippi Department of Insurance and The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency.
