Update on short-term rentals in Biloxi

The hot topic of short-term rentals in the City of Biloxi has died down in recent weeks. However, there are a few things you need to be aware of.

The majority of licenses are issued in four condominium complexes: Oak Shores, Seabreeze, Ocean Club, and Chateau Le Grand.

Also, a bill of exception was filed for four units at Cypress Cove Condominiums due to the Planning Commission and the City Council denying conditional use approval. This is an appeal which requires a court date.

A code enforcement officer was assigned to monitor those who are advertising short-term rentals without a license. Biloxi Director of Community Development Jerry Creel said, “Monitoring the website is critical to see who in Biloxi is operating. We make the personal contact with them, make them aware. If they come into compliance, then that’s the end of it. If they don’t come into compliance, then we would actually pursue it to the court process.”

Currently, the Biloxi Planning Commission has received 280 applications for short-term rentals in which 229 licenses were issued.
