Ocean Springs Softball walks off St. Martin 2-1 to begin Round Two of Playoffs

The weather didn’t keep an outstanding rivalry match from taking place at Jack. B Hughes Field as the Ocean Springs Greyhounds took on the St. Martin Yellow Jackets for game one of the second round of playoffs.

The first half was all pitching and fielding. Greyhound senior Emma Franklin and junior Massyah Thomas were both lights out in the circle, putting up zeroes in the first three innings. The scoring didn’t start until the bottom of the fourth where Addison Johnson reached on a error and brought home Taylor Farra for the first run. Responding immediately were the Yellow Jackets in the top of the fifth as an RBI double from Lily Radich brings home Alivia Allen to tie things up at one.

It’d remain tied through the sixth, until senior K’Lee Gum walked it off for the Greyhounds on the first pitch she saw. The Greyhound take game one of the series 2-1. St. Martin will look for the split on their home turf as they host the Greyhounds Friday night at 6pm. Highlights from the electric matchup in the video above!
