Just in time for spring break, some good news for drivers who travel Highway 90.
Since April 2nd, the southern lane of 90 at White Avenue has been reduced to one lane. This lane closure was necessary for construction on a new 48 inch storm drain ten feet under the highway.
The City of Biloxi wants to keep travel times to a minimum.
Contractors are hoping to have the work finished by Friday, but if not they will make it where both lanes can be open for Spring Break Weekend. Cecilia Dobbs-Walton with the City of Biloxi said, “Contractors are doing the best they can to have this work complete, but, again, the road will be open for spring breakers to come and enjoy Highway 90 and the beach. Just to make sure traffic moves as smoothly as possible, we want to make sure that all lanes are open.”
If the contractors aren’t able to complete the work by this weekend, the city says it will be wrapped up by next weekend.
