12/9 – Jeff Vorick’s “Clearing Underway” Friday Afternoon Forecast

Fog has lifted to a pesky low-level cloud deck. Temperatures will continue to be well-above seasonal. Expect overcast skies to become partly cloudy later this afternoon with a light breeze out of the West.

Fog will set up again tonight. Saturday will be a tame day once the fog is out of the picture. Clearing is expected to occur as the day progresses. High pressure that has been in our area will begin to scoot away this weekend. The pattern will change in a big way! A frontal system will move closer to South Mississippi during Saturday. It will be in our area Sunday.

Clouds will increase Saturday night into Sunday. Showers and thunderstorms will affect South Mississippi during the Sunday. There is a 40-60% chance of rain to close out the weekend.

A potent frontal system will make its way out of the Rockies early next week. The system will be moving to its northeast from the Great Plains. With that, South Mississippi will be in the warm and moist sector of the system from Tuesday, until a cold frontal passage Wednesday. The potential is there for severe thunderstorms Wednesday.
