12/26 – Payton’s Wednesday Morning Forecast

Today will be the final day of somewhat nice weather before the bottom drops out. Expect increasing clouds and breezy conditions. A few showers are possible by this evening. By tonight rain chances increase and showers will be more widespread. Lows tonight will be warmer in the lower 60s. Thursday will be much different with overcast skies and increasing rain chances. By tomorrow evening and overnight a line of heavy rain and thunderstorms will move into the area. There is marginal threat for severe weather. The main threat will be high winds, flash flooding and there could be an isolated tornado, although the chance is low. By Friday the frontal boundary will stall out in the area, which means rain chances will continue into Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday. With multiple days of heavy rain in the area there is a threat for flash flooding and river flooding. Make sure if you live in low lying areas around rivers you’re keeping a close eye to the levels. By the New Year it looks like we’ll finally see the system start to exit the area and cooler, drier air will arrive.
