12/20 Ryan’s “Second Round” Thursday Evening Forecast

Skies have been grey and heavy all day, but we’re just now getting our second round of rainfall. Only about a quarter of an inch is expected through the rest of the night, so I don’t expect any issues beyond the usual added driving risks. Friday is the first day of Winter, and will appropriately be the coolest day we’ll see over the next week. Afternoon highs max out in the mid 50s, while overnight lows will get a bit frosty at 36.

The ridge continues to build through Saturday, meaning we’ll see beautifully clear skies, but it quickly moves east and sets up southerly return flow for South MS.

Expect temperatures to trend 5-10 degrees warmer than average for the start of the week and the Christmas holidays, but it will still be dry and at least partly sunny so it’s hard to complain. That means pre-Christmas travel will be fine, but it looks like we’ll see another front by Thursday, making post-Christmas travel much wetter.
