10/16 -Rob Knight’s “Spotty Rain” Friday Morning Forecast

A weak cold front is moving through the area this morning bringing spotty light rain and areas of patchy fog. As the front clears south Mississippi mid/late morning, skies will clear very quickly as strong high-pressure and colder/drier air to the NW begins to moving into the region. A tightening gradient will have winds from the north gusting into the upper teens to low 20 mph range through this evening before calming.

Clear skies overnight will lead to good radational cooling and coupled with a north wind, temperatures will drop into the mid/upper 40s inland to 50 degrees closer to the beach. A less humid air mass will dominate through much of the weekend. By Sunday, a warmer flow will begin in advance of the next system approaching from the NW…but will stall to the NW until early/mid-week next week. For the most part after this morning, rain-free conditions will continue through Wednesday.
