10/10 – Jeff Vorick’s “Gloomy” Tuesday Evening Forecast
Cloudy skies with very few breaks in cloud coverage will continue this evening with light southerly winds shifting to easterly overnight. Temperatures will be slightly warmer overnight as compared to this morning. Rain chances will begin to increase after the 2 – 4 AM window as an area of low pressure will begin to impact our area.
Periods of steady rain will dominate your Wednesday under cloudy skies with windy conditions. Winds will pick up through the morning with 15 – 25 MPH sustained winds, and gusts over 30 MPH possible along the immediate coast. The potential for heaviest rain will be in localized pockets near the beachfront.
A Wind Advisory generally along and south of I-10 will be in effect from 1 PM Wednesday through 6 AM Thursday due to winds gusting upwards of 40 MPH. A Coastal Flood Warning will be in effect from tomorrow evening through Thursday afternoon due to 1 – 3 feet of water rise being possible. Rain will exit the area Wednesday night into Thursday. Some clearing and a 20% chance of rain are in play Thursday.
Another piece of energy will make its way along the Gulf Coast Thursday into Friday. Combine that with being ahead of a cold front and that will provide for a 40% chance of thunderstorms to end the week. A shot of cooler air and sunnier skies will arrive for the weekend.
