1/3 – Rob Knight’s “Wet” Friday Morning Forecast

A prefrontal trough of low-pressure will continue to move eastward this morning, and will be east of the area by noon. The main front will take considerably longer to get through the area as low pressure moves along the front. There won’t be significant drying of the airmass until after midnight tonight. The threat for heavy rainfall will be in the area this morning with rain potential dropping off slight this afternoon. Isolated very short lived t-storms will also affect the area this morning.

Passage of pre-frontal trough will knock temperatures back down into the mid-50s-lower 60s later this afternoon. Winds will begin to elevate this afternoon and through tonight as the main system moves east across the area. Clouds will continue tonight with clearing beginning closer to sunrise tomorrow. Skies should completely clear around noon Saturday with a colder/drier air mass moving in for the weekend into Monday.

The eastern trough lifts out over the weekend, providing a short period of zonal flow before the next northern stream system moves across the Ohio Valley Monday and Tuesday. This will bring another cold frontal passage on Tuesday. Moisture somewhat starved with this front, so not much activity is expected.
