08/25 Ryan’s “Tropical Waiting Game” Thursday Forecast

We ended up with a few answers out of the tropics today, but along with the waiting game we also received several more questions. Neither TS Gaston nor Invest 99L strengthened any today, and actually began to weaken due to upper level wind shear. This makes the trajectory of Invest 99L harder to forecast, but nearly every model did make a significant shift Westward, bringing the developing storm into the Gulf around the beginning of next week. As far as the final path and intensity go, I’ve seen seven day models bring a strong hurricane on a collision course with South MS and another show the system dissipating into nothing during the same time. Needless to say, uncertainty is high, but this provides an excellent opportunity to finalize your hurricane plan with your family, just in case. Resources to help create your plan can be found here

Locally it’s looking like a very boring week. If I had to pick a “dry” day I’d say Friday is looking like the best choice, but a small chance of t-storms exists every other day during the afternoon. Otherwise, expect continued hot and humid conditions.
