08/24 Ryan’s “Wetter Wednesday” Forecast

I had earmarked today as the rainiest I’m expecting over the next week and things certainly were wetter earlier. Right around noon we hit our high temperature of 94 in Gulfport and that allowed convection to begin firing off just North of the coastline, and the Easterly winds aloft pushed the developing storms toward the West. Skies have dried a bit but some areas of light showers remain on the Western end of the viewing area. The next several days are expected to be hot & humid with low chances of afternoon showers.

TS Gaston continues to strengthen, but no significant landfall is expected during its life cycle. Invest 99L continues to intrigue Coastal meteorologists, and while many models have that developing storm heading up the East coast, a few do have it pushing further South and West than others bringing it into the Gulf. We’ll continue to monitor the situation and advise accordingly. Please consider finalizing your evacuation plan if you have not already done so.
