08/24 Ryan’s “Less Wet Wednesday Night” Forecast
A shortwave low pressure feature moved through the area today causing many of our earlier rainy woes, but it’s much less wet tonight. A small chance of showers (~20%) carries into tonight near the waterfront, but areas North of the water will likely remain dry for the rest of the night. While slight rain chances do hang around through the weekend and into next week, showers will be few and far between and generally limited to the hottest parts of the afternoon only. Despite the summer storms we will remain hot and humid throughout, with the daytime highs staying right around 90.
The tropics have many Gulf Coast residents worried right now and there is some cause for concern. The developing storm known as Invest 99L will become a tropical system within the next day or so, and some of our forecast models do have it entering the Gulf and heading very close to South MS. That being said, it will be next Tuesday before the storm will be entering the Central Gulf if everything goes perfectly, which it often doesn’t with so many factors in play. Regardless, if you don’t have a hurricane evacuation plan, this would be a good time to finalize one and stay tuned to WXXV News 25 for continued updates.
