08/30 Ryan’s “Post Ida” Monday Evening Forecast

Ida unravels and weakens as it pushes inland, bringing just a bit more rain on its way out.

It has been a rough 36 hours for SE Louisiana and South MS, but things will improve rapidly in our post Id phase. We’re still going to see at least a few showers and thunderstorms throughout the evening and into the early morning, but skies clear considerably after that. Flooding issues will linger for a few more days though.

We’re under an Areal (covers a broad area) Flood Warning until late tomorrow morning, and local rivers will remain high through the middle of the week.

If you live in these areas, you’ll likely be seeing issues through Thursday morning. Thankfully though the rain will stop soon. Rain chances will linger in the 30% range through tomorrow morning, fall to 20% for Wednesday, and then drop off completely for the rest of the week. That means we’re getting a well-deserved sunny break from any active weather to aid in recovery/repair efforts. Cloud cover remains minimal through the weekend, and rain chances don’t return until Labor Day.
