07/11 Ryan’s “TS Barry” Thursday Night Forecast

Tropical Storm Barry is right on time, forming earlier today and becoming more organized in the days ahead. South Mississippi has seen a few bands struggling to form in the area today, but we’ll see much more rain over the weekend.

Local impacts from Barry will still remain minimal.

At each point during its development we’ll either be too far North or too far East to receive any of the significant storm surge or winds. Also, Barry seems to be trending weaker and weaker with each update. That means the biggest threat with this tropical event will be the rain. With the moisture available to this storm and its slow movement speed, the Gulf Coast could see upwards of 6-10″ by Sunday. This will likely lead to flooding issues, and Flash Flood Watches have already been issued for all South MS counties.
