05/31 Ryan’s “Heat Index” Thursday Night Forecast

The heat index rose into the triple digits in South Mississippi today, and we’ll see even hotter days ahead.

DRIER AIR HAS MOVED INTO THE MID AND UPPER LEVELS, WHICH WILL LIMIT CONVECTION AND KEEP RAIN CHANCES LOW.

This air will also eventually sink and warm which will lead to an increase in temperature over the next few days. Highs will remain in the lower 90s for now, but will climb into the mid 90s by Sunday.

INLAND AREAS WILL BE WARMER AND WILL FLIRT WITH, IF NOT SURPASS, 100 DEGREES.

The above average humidity means heat indices will rise to dangerous levels over the weekend, but luckily a weak cold front will move through and provide some relief. This boundary won’t bring much rain, but temperatures will fall into the upper 80s and low 90s with slightly drier air to start next work week.
