05/12 – Brantly’s “Warming Up” Tuesday Afternoon Forecast

Tuesday and Wednesday will be very similar to the last couple of days with sunny skies, low humidity, and mild temperatures. Highs should top out in the lower 80s. Overnight lows will be warmer, only dropping down to the mid 60s.

By Thursday, the atmosphere will be less stable, leading to better chances for precipitation. A very early summertime-like pattern, which supports widespread afternoon showers and thunderstorms, gives us a 30 to 50% chance of rain.

Beyond Thursday into the upcoming weekend, a few more weak disturbances will continue to slowly transition west to east, helping to locally enhance shower/storm coverage, especially in the afternoon.

In the tropics, the National Hurricane Center is watching an area of low pressure over the Bahamas, giving it a 50 percent chance of development over the next 5 days. This system will not affect the Gulf Coast.
