05/07 Ryan’s “Stormy Start” Thursday Morning Forecast

We're off to a stormy start this Thursday, with more rain expected for the rest of the week.

We’re off to a stormy start today as a cold front is pushing into the area, bringing few-and-far between clusters of thunderstorms into South Mississippi. So far there hasn’t been anything in the way of severe weather, but at least a few storms have produced “Special Weather Statements,” which are strong storms that don’t quite meet severe criteria. These still produce frequent lightning, heavy rain, and gusting winds that can potentially cause damage. As we head towards noon though the chance of storms falls off, and only stray showers are likely as we head into the night. Rain chances linger into the next few days though, so we aren’t done with stormy weather just yet.

For today, expect another hot, humid afternoon with a high near 80° and cloudy skies. Stray showers will continue, though winds will shift northerly for a bit after the front passes.
