04/03 Ryan’s “Mr. Hyde” Monday Afternoon Forecast

Today’s weather reminds me a bit of “Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.” This morning’s storms had up to a “moderate” risk (level 4 of 5) of severe weather and brought at least 2-4″ of rain to the Gulf Coast in only about 6 hours. Short of a hail report in George County, and a few wind reports in Pearl River, there was very little in the way of damaging weather in South MS. I fear had these storms come in later in the afternoon we would have been much worse of, but instability was low this morning.

By 10 AM the rain had moved East and the clouds were beginning to thin, ultimately clearing into a warm, sunny, and clear afternoon. Temperatures will begin cooling after sundown, but I don’t expect to fall any lower than 62 on the waterfront. While tomorrow will be a repeat of this afternoon, the nice weather doesn’t last long as a “slight” severe risk system will begin moving in overnight on Tuesday. I expect showers to begin just after midnight and continue until at around 10 AM when the frontal system will push through the area. Expect a long stretch of pleasant weather afterwards, including some afternoon highs in the low 70s and evening lows in the mid 40s!
