03/04 Ryan’s “Stormy” Mardi Gras Afternoon Forecast
Expect stormy weather for any afternoon/evening Mardi Gras festivities.
The weather has been sunny and beautiful for any Mardi Gras related activities up until now, but as the day itself arrives we’re looking at a potentially stormy evening ahead. I should rephrase that…it’s DEFINITELY going to be stormy for a few hours later today, and the storms could POTENTIALLY be severe. Yesterday we were upgraded to a level 3 (out of 5) threat of severe weather, with the largest threat being straight-line winds. There’s a low chance of embedded tornadoes as the line is passing through this afternoon/evening. Timing has fluctuated some over the last several days, initially looking like it would be a late night event, but now it looks like the “worst” will move through around sunset. The good news is it should race through the area, moving from one end to the other within 2-3 hours. That’ll keep rain from stacking up, but add to the stormy winds.
Sam will be here through the afternoon to monitor for warnings and advise as needed through the evening.
