Young Professionals Learn To Plan
Financial planning, credit scores and car payments can all be dropped into your lap if you’re a young professional fresh out of college.
The Mississippi Gulf Coast Chamber of Commerce wants to take away the fear and difficulty of handling all of those at a young age. This morning, the chamber held the first of a three part institute on strengthening your financial future at Tulane University in Biloxi.
Young professionals from across the Coast took notes from a financial advisor on how they can make sure they are financially sound from now until retirement. Financial Advisor Wendy Roper said, “The best advice I can give someone starting out is to get an established emergency fund. Figure out what your monthly expenses are, multiply that two, three, four, five or whatever you’re comfortable with and set that money aside as your insurance policy against bad things that happen because a rainy day does come, grandma was right.”
Part two of the series will be August 17th and will focus on setting career goals.
