WWII PT boat visits Bay St. Louis
This weekend, Coast residents got to view an original piece of World War II history.
Employees from the National World War II Museum in New Orleans docked PT Boat 305 at the Bay St. Louis Harbor and gave visitors an up close tour of the boat. PT 305 was originally commissioned in 1943 and served as a dinner cruise boat and fishing boat after the war.
The museum acquired the boat and restored it over the course of a decade. PT 305 Executive Officer/Maintenance Manager Bob Wade said, “What we did is we restored the boat to the way it would have looked in November 1944. It would have been in the Mediterranean Theater, probably southern France, maybe Italy at the time.”
