Wrongful death lawsuit filed against Jackson County
The family of an inmate who died in Jackson County is moving forward with a wrongful death lawsuit.
According to our media partner, the Sun Herald, 38-year-old Cindy Arnold was found dead on the floor of her jail cell in September 2018, just two days after being arrested.
She was charged with violating her protective order against her former common-law husband.
Arnold reportedly pleaded with guards and medical personnel to give her insulin she needed to inject six to eight times a day to treat her type 1 diabetes.
As her condition worsened, staff mostly ignored her pleas for help.
Arnold’s daughter, Kayla Rush, is suing Jackson County, the Sheriff’s Office, sheriff, jailers, and the then-contracted health care provider.
