World Series Champ Speaks at Luncheon
The principles in life are more important than the game of baseball. This is one of the opening lines four-time World Series champ Darryl Strawberry used in his speech in Biloxi today.
A sold-out crowd gathered for the “Our Love Affair with Baseball” luncheon at the Ohr-O’Keefe Museum of Art in Biloxi to listen to the eight time Major League Baseball all-star outfielder.
Strawberry talked about baseball and his past, telling the audience his pain led him to his greatness.
Strawberry tells News 25 that along his life journey he found his faith. He says that helped him create a new definition to baseball and meaning for life. “The game is about winning and life is about winning. You going to play a game for nine innings but you’re going to play the game of life for a long time and we all need to learn to win.”
Throughout his 17 year career, Strawberry has played for the New York Mets, LA Dodgers, San Francisco Giants and the New York Yankees.
WXXV is a proud sponsor of the weekly luncheon.
