World School Milk Day

This morning, students and staff at Bel-Aire Elementary School in Gulfport broke out their favorite plaid outfits, overalls, and cowboy hats to celebrate World School Milk Day.

Teachers planned fun and educational activities to educate students on the importance of drinking milk.

World School Milk Day is a global celebration that engages children in an exciting way on the health benefits of drinking milk as well as learning about the dairy food group. Cafeteria Manger Tammy Marion said, “The milk promotes strong bones, strong teeth, gives the kids energy, and it’s a lot better than sodas and sports drinks and all that. Well, we encourage the kids every day. The kids are really good about encouraging them to get milk so most of them do.”

This is the 18th year World School Milk Day has been celebrated nationwide.
