Woman struck and killed in Gautier identified

The woman who was struck and killed by a vehicle Saturday night in Gautier has been identified and her family has been contacted.

The woman has been identified as Kay Canter Sullivan, a 39-year-old Gautier resident. She was in the middle of the street when she was struck by an SUV.

The driver of the vehicle called 911 and has been completely compliant during the investigation. No charges have been filed against the driver at this time. He was not impaired at the time of the accident. Gautier Police Captain David Bever said, “Saturday, February 6th around 8:30 p.m., officers responded to a pedestrian being struck by a vehicle on the 2600 block of Ladnier Road. She was struck by an SUV that was traveling north on Ladnier Road. She was in the middle of the roadway when struck. Ambulance tried lifesaving measures, but she was pronounced dead on the scene. The initial investigation showed no impairment on the driver.”

Once the investigation is complete, all findings will be presented to the grand jury to make their official determination on any charges to the driver.
