Woman Murdered on Santa Cruz Street

The man who officials say murdered a professor at Delta State University today could be the same man that killed a woman in Jackson County this morning. The woman was found in her Gautier home this morning.
Shortly after 10 a.m., the Gautier Police Department received a call from suspect Shannon Lamb. Lamb lived with 41-year-old Army Prentiss. Prentiss was killed.
Lamb, the Delta State University instructor, reported to police a shooting had occurred at the home he shared with the victim on Santa Cruz Street. Police believe Lamb traveled to Delta State in a green SUV, an SUV matching the description of the one found at the university.
Here’s what neighbors had to say about the couple. Sloan Suddeth said, “This is just becoming too common, I guess. I just don’t like it a bit. I’m sorry to hear that the woman was killed.” Charlyn Parnell said, “I only saw them outside doing a little bit of yard work. I never heard any noise over there and they’re real quiet people.”
Matt Hoggatt, with Gautier Police Department, said, “It’s certainly nothing you can prepare for. We’re working this just like we would normally work a homicide investigation. We put all the facts together we can put together. If it turns out it’s related to an event somewhere else in another jurisdiction, we certainly work with those authorities as well.”
