Woman charged with kidnapping has initial court appearance
The two boys who went missing from Pascagoula Friday night, six-year-old Kaiden Wall and two-year-old Kolden Wall have been located and are safe.
Their non-custodial mother, 33-year-old Sarah Caswell, had her initial appearance at 10 this morning at United States District Court in Gulfport.
She’s being charged with federal kidnapping after she crossed a state line with the children. This is a felony charge that can mean no less than 20 years in prison for Caswell.
The boys were taken from Caswell and put into Mississippi’s Child Protective Services on July 18th.
According to the Pascagoula Police Department, this past Friday the kids were with their foster family visiting their mother at Beach Park in Pascagoula. Caswell was able to convince the foster family to let her show the kids her new car. She then got the kids in the car and sped off.
Amber Alerts were issued and through joint efforts between local law enforcement and the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office, the kids were found in Lincoln County, Mississippi late Monday morning.
The children are now back in Mississippi’s Child Protective Services. Caswell remains in custody with no bond.
Her preliminary hearing is this Friday at 10 a.m. at the United States District Courthouse in Gulfport.
