Woman arrested on felony embezzlement charges in Poplarville
Poplarville, MS – On April 22, 2026, the Poplarville Police Department arrested Carolyn Tedford, 64, of Poplarville, Mississippi, on charges of Felony Embezzlement and Felony Uttering Forgery.
The arrest follows a month-long investigation initiated after concerns were raised regarding financial discrepancies within a local civic club.
Tedford, who served as the organization’s treasurer for approximately seven years, is alleged to have forged another member’s signature on numerous checks made payable to herself.
The investigation revealed a pattern of suspected fraudulent activity spanning several years.
Based on the findings, warrants were obtained, and Tedford was taken into custody without incident.
This case remains under investigation, and additional charges may be forthcoming.
