Woman arrested in connection with shooting at apartment complex in Gulfport
GULFPORT, Miss. (WXXV)- A woman was arrested in Gulfport in connection to a Monday shooting at an apartment complex.
Twenty-one-year-old Leona Boykin was arrested and charged with six counts of aggravated assault.
On July 20, officers responded to Emerald Pines Apartments in reference to a drive-by shooting.
Upon arrival, officers found Boykin and another woman engaged in a physical altercation.
Both were detained while officers conducted their investigation.
During the investigation, officers learned that Boykin discharged a firearm multiple times toward a group of people. Multiple spent shell casings were found at the scene and an apartment had been struck by gunfire.
Boykin was processed and transported to the Harrison County Adult Detention Center. She is being held on a $600,000 bond.
