Winter Rod Run returns to the Mississippi Coast

The Southern Who Street Rod Association brought the Winter Rod Run back to the Magnolia State this weekend. It was brought back just in time for the show’s 30th anniversary.

The family-run car club organizes the Winter Rod Run the third week of every January, and held it in Covington, Louisiana the last few years.

This time though, the show fell on the 21st and drivers on Hwy 49 in Gulfport might have noticed the shine of classic cars outside the Gulf Coast Convention Center. The show features pre-1975 vehicles from all over the country.

Noel Eisenhardt is the organizer for Winter Rod Run. She said why they brought it back to Mississippi, “We stayed in Louisiana for awhile, started having hotel issues. And we are affiliated with Cruisin’ the Coast — we’re one of the clubs that actually works with Cruisin’ the Coast. And they recommended, ‘We need you guys to come back to Mississippi.’ So, they actually helped us find this hotel. We booked this hotel, we’re back in Mississippi, we’re hoping to stay in Mississippi.”

This year, the proceeds from the event were donated by the associated to the Hancock Resource Center.
