Winn-Dixie stores to hire those affected by layoffs, designate first hour of business to seniors

GULFPORT, Miss. (WXXV) — Southeastern Grocers, the parent company of local Winn-Dixie stores, has announced immediate actions to assist the community, including the Gulfport and Biloxi areas, during this unprecedented time.

On Thursday, the company said in a statement to the press they would take the following actions:

  • Southeastern Grocers (SEG) will designate a special shopping hour dedicated to seniors and high-risk customers from 8 a.m. until 9 a.m., Monday through Friday, in all stores.
  • Local Winn-Dixie stores to expeditiously hire individuals who have been affected by restricted working hours and layoffs
  • SEG will open all pharmacy locations at 8 a.m. on weekdays to provide prescription refills, influenza and pneumonia vaccines and customer counseling
  • SEG Gives Foundation will donate $250,000 to Feeding America® to help provide support to those facing food insecurity
