William Carey University Among Recipients of Government Grant
At least one South Mississippi university is happy to see some government spending.
William Carey University is one of three state university’s receiving a combined total of nearly $2 million dollars in grant money.
The Mississippi Department of Education is allocating $1.7 million dollars to William Carey, Delta State University, and Mississippi State University to help prepare and support effective new teachers in high-need school districts.
In 2018, the MDE received a $4.1 million grant from the W.K. Kellogg Foundation aimed at establishing residency programs.
Over the next three years, the teacher residency program is expected to support up to 35 new resident teachers from these universities to meet needs in four school districts.
