William Carey Enrollment Numbers Increase as Press Conference is Scheduled Friday Morning
Some encouraging education news is coming out of William Carey University.
According to the dean of William Carey University’s School of Education, undergraduate enrollment in the program has increased by 25 percent from last year with more than 250 undergraduate students are now signed up as education majors this academic year. This marks the largest number of undergraduate education majors since 2013.
This is good news overall for the state, since Mississippi is experiencing a serious teacher shortage.
Several years ago, the faculty of William Carey’s School of Education made it their focus to increase the number of teachers — an investment that apparently is paying off.
Also this morning, William Carey University plans to hold a press conference to announce news of statewide importance about its medical school, the WCU College of Osteopathic Medicine.
We’ll be sure to keep you posted.
