Wildlife Care & Rescue Center to Release Bald Eagle

The Wildlife Care and Rescue Center in Jackson County will be releasing an American bald eagle into the Mississippi skies Saturday.

The eagle, found last April in Vancleave with a wing injury, has been undergoing rehab in Florida to learn how to fly again. It will be brought back to Mississippi this weekend to be released in the area it was found. Wildlife officials say the bald eagle is finally off the endangered species list and are making their way back to the area.

Alison Sharpe, Director of the Wildlife Care and Rescue Center, says, “As we continue to crouch upon their habitats and stuff, more and more wildlife come into us, so if we weren’t here then, you know they wouldn’t really have a second chance.”

This year marks the 20th anniversary that the Wildlife Care and Rescue Center has been on the Coast.
